UK Haptics develops ‘virtual reality training solutions’ for practice based learning and skills rehearsal in medical and clinical situations using 3D virtual reality environments to create life like simulations.
The aim is to provide a safe environment for clinical students and practitioners to learn new skills, perfect techniques and build confidence without incurring the mounting costs of disposables.
The simulations take place in real time and provide testing together with user feedback and clinical metrics.
The first UK Haptics training ‘solution’ is “Virtual Veins” for venepuncture using a set of 3D virtual reality arms and hands, that can be manipulated. With different models available Virtual Veins offers an adult male hand, an Afro-Caribbean hand and a geriatric hand in the first version with more models and patient scenarios to follow.
As part of our commitment to healthcare you will find that UK Haptics is mapping Virtual Veins to the NHS Knowledge Skills Framework to help students and practitioners map their learning via user feedback, reporting and clinical metrics for their Continuous Professional Development and KSF gateways.
